On Saturday, Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers based on Lang’ata arrested two main suspects accused of robbing a Kenyan man of Indian national Ksh 453,000.
According to DCI, the victim was tempted through an online dating site where a lady suspect, identified as Mary Mukii Kioko lured him to a house in Muimara estate at Imara Daima in Nairobi.
Investigating officer found that, upon arrival in the said house, three men joined. Jointly they tortured him to the point of reveling his ATM and Mpesa PINs. After they transferred the money, they dumped him along Mombasa road.
“Jointly, the gang tortured the victim forcing him to reveal his ATM and MPESA pins after which they withdrew the said amount through various avenues, and later dumped him along Mombasa Road near Sameer Business Park,” DCI officer said.
After detectives raided the house which is number 114, Muimara estate, two suspects were arrested. Two more were able to escape. DCI notes that they have since started to haunt those who escaped.
Mobile phones, a PDQ Coop Bank machine, assorted ATM cards, and Coop Bank Agent book were recovered during the raid.
“Search conducted in the house led to the confiscation of six mobile phones, a PDQ Coop Bank machine, assorted ATM cards, Coop Bank Agent book among other items. The two nabbed suspects placed in custody pending arraignment with officers launching a manhunt for the escapees,”investigating officer said.
