Meet KDF’s Scariest Unit In Africa Who Never Show Their Face

The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Force (1st SFOD-Force) is Kenya Defence Forces’s Kenya Combat Applications Group (KECAG), “The Unit”,  within Kenya’s JSOC as Task Force Green.

It is a special operations force of the Kenya Army, under operational control of the Joint Special Operations Command.

The unit is tasked with missions primarily involving counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, direct action, and special reconnaissance, often against high-value targets.

Kenya Combat Applications Group (KECAG) counterparts, Alpha Company and the Recce Company are the Kenya Special Forces tier with one special mission units tasked with performing the most complex, classified, and dangerous missions directed by the National Command Authority.

Kenya Combat Applications Group (KECAG) operators are selected from Kenya Army Special Operations Command’s elite Special Forces Groups.

The majority of the operations assigned to KECAG are classified and may  never be known to the public.

However, details of some operations have  become public knowledge.

In January 2020, Kenya Combat Applications Group Operators arrested senior al Shabaab terrorist, Abdullahi Dimbil Ahmed, the mastermind of the 2015 Mandera bus attack, Strategic Intelligence, an online publication, reports.

According to the On-line report, Dimbil was arrested  together with one of his associates outside the Jubbaland Security  Forces camp in Southern Somalia.
